4 Water Conservation Tips

During the summer months, we tend to use far more water than we do when the weather is cold. There are gardens to tend, sprinklers to run through, and a need for more cold water to drink. We thought this would be a good time to share with you some of our favorite summer water conservation tips.

  1. Nighttime Gardening

This may sound crazy, but it’s a terrific way to nurture your home garden while also conserving water. You may plant or weed at any time of the day or night as you like—we won’t judge—but we recommend watering your garden at night. Night-time watering means less evaporation. This enables homeowners to save money by using less water more efficiently.

  2. Drip Irrigation

Drip irrigation is a method of watering plants directly at their roots through a network of pipes and tubing. As its name suggests, the water drips slowly but gets directly to the source much faster. Rather than hammering down tons of hose water, drip irrigation moves water more efficiently to the place it is most needed, saving water and reducing costs in the process.

  3. Get a New Toilet

Is your toilet the most efficient a toilet can be? Stop flushing money down the drain and install a new toilet that will save you money while also working its part to protect the environment. We are stocked and ready to install cost-saving 1.28 gallon/flush toilet bowls.

  4. Try a Faucet Aerator

Faucet aerators are an affordable way to conserve water. These devices may be easily installed on showerheads or sink faucets to aerate the water in such a way that the water pressure feels the same with less.

Get Your Home Water Tested

One last recommendation we have, especially if you’re concerned about the safety of your drinking water, is to have a professional plumber come to your home and inspect your water. We can do this rather quickly using a water test kit we send off for close examination. We will then review with you a detailed report of any contaminants found in your water. Together, we can take the next best course of action to ensure that you and your family have access to clean, fresh water.
