Multiple Fixture Backups a Sure Sign of Main Line Clog

A customer called us whose plumbing was backed up throughout her entire home. The sink, tub, shower, everything was clogged.

Having more than one plumbing fixture in a home be clogged at once is a good indication of a sewer drain clog, which, if not taken care of, can be a very serious problem.┬áIf water in the sewer drain has no where to go, it’s going to come back into your household plumbing, forcing you not to use any of that plumbing until it’s cleared.

Once you know you have a sewer drain clog, you have to call a professional right away to clear it for you. It may be a little difficult to do that, however, if you don’t recognize the signs.

There are a few ways you can verify that you have a clog in your sewer drain. The first is exactly what this customer was going through – having multiple fixtures be clogged at once. It is rare to have a main line sewer stoppage and have the toilets working properly, so if you notice that one or more toilets is constantly backed up that’s probably why.

Tub and shower drains can also be affected, so you will want to check those as well. Another thing to look out for is your plumbing acting strange inside the home. For example, if you flush your toilet and water backs up or comes up into the shower, that’s a pretty clear sign you have a sewer drain clog.

If you think this may be happening in your home, call 3 Mountains Plumbing. We’ll fix the problem as soon as possible.
